According to the Federal Register proposal, medical examiners (ME’s) who failed to login to their federal account and update all information by February 23, 2024, should be removed from the National Registry.

Since June 2018, FMCSA attempted to notify all MEs on the Federal Registry, through email, physical mailings, and phone calls, about the requirement to either access their account or create a login to login.gov and update all relevant information. To date, there are approximately 15,727 MEs who have not complied with the request. As a result, they are not able to fulfill regulatory requirements such as report results of physical qualification examinations performed on commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers, receive FMCSA communications, and complete required training.
MEs who are removed from the National Registry will no longer be certified to perform physical qualification examinations of CMV drivers.
Under the driver qualification rules in Part 390 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, regulated drivers must be examined by a medical examiner who is listed on the National Registry, and the carriers that employ those drivers must verify this fact each time the drivers present a new medical card.
Commercial drivers are responsible for verifying that upcoming medical exams are performed by an ME listed on the current National Registry.
It is unclear whether the threatened examiner removals would render existing med cards invalid.

I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
