What You'll Do: Tasks

  • Identify, initiate, and implement efficient accounting systems and procedures
  • Apply accounting principles in the development of financially relevant applications and technologies
  • Collaborate with others to streamline financial processes
  • Prepare financial reports to analyze agency performance drivers at all company levels
  • Utilize Excel and other appropriate tools and techniques to gather and analyze data
  • Maintain an orderly electronic filing system
  • Review accounting books for efficiency and accuracy
  • Manage the agency’s external relationships with banks and CPA
  • Assist with monthly and annual financial reporting activities, as well as any ad hoc accounting reports
  • Provide backup coverage as needed for general accounting tasks performed by current accounting associates (which includes functions such as AP, AR, Payroll, etc.)
  • Perform other financial activities and ad hoc projects
  • Commit to handling sensitive financial information with discretion

What You'll Bring: Competencies

  • 3+ years of accounting experience, with insurance agency experience a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or relevant accumulated work experience
  • Strong analytic abilities
  • Ability to work independently and with team members
  • High degree of attention to detail
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with insurance accounting software is a plus, but not required
  • You like technology and want to use it to do things more efficiently

  • Flexible in-office and/or remote opportunities, with a willingness to come into office as necessary
  • Flexible schedule, but ideally at least 30 hours per week
  • Position can be hourly or salary, tailored to your preferences
